On Monday, Day 234 of the ongoing Israeli genocide of the Palestinians, throughout the day until late night hours, Israeli missiles and shells killed and injured dozens of Palestinians across the coastal enclave.
Medical sources in Rafah, in Gaza’s southmost part, said the army fired a missile at a home in the northern part of the city, killing seven Palestinians and wounding six.
They added that medics and rescue operators recovered the bodies of seven Palestinians, and rescued six under the rubble of the home in the Arabiya area, in the northern part of the city.
The army also fired artillery shells at the Saudi neighborhood and the Zo’rob Junction area, west of Rafah.
In addition, the Kuwaiti Specialty Hospital in Rafah said an Israeli drone fired a missile at its medics, killing two, identified as Rashid Barhoum, 23, and Mos’ab Al-‘Arja, 22, and added that five medics were injured in an earlier bombing.
The hospital stated that it is now out of service due to Israel’s expansion of its onslaught in Rafah, and the repeated targeting of the medical facility and its surrounding areas, and that the medical staff will be moved to the field hospital which is being prepared in the Al-Mawasi area in nearby Khan Younis.
It is worth mentioning that the Israeli army intensified its bombing and shelling of Rafah, especially in its central and eastern areas, in addition to wiring and detonating many homes and buildings.
In addition, the army fired many missiles at the Nusseirat refugee camp, and artillery shells at areas east of the Al-Boreij refugee camp, in central Gaza, killing and wounding many Palestinians, including women and children.
The Al-Aqsa Hospital in Deir Al-Balah in central Gaza said it might shut down within just a few hours, after the Israeli army prevented fuel, needed to run its electricity generators, from reaching the medical facility,
Furthermore, at least one Palestinian was killed and several others were injured when the army fired a missile at a home for the Najjar family in the Old Gaza Street, in addition to firing many artillery shells at several parts of the Zeitoun neighborhood, southeast of Gaza City.
In Beit Lahia and Jabalia, in northern Gaza, the army fired many missiles and shells at homes and buildings, streets, and alleys, while medics remained unable to reach the bombarded areas.
It is worth mentioning that Al Jazeera News Agency published footage of the Israeli army bombing and destroying entire residential blocks in the Zeitoun neighborhood in Gaza, and said that the exclusive footage was captured by an Israeli drone that was shot down in Gaza earlier this month.
Volker Türk, the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, said that he was horrified by the Israeli attack that killed 45 internally displaced Palestinians in Rafah, last night, and called for holding the assailants accountable.
He added that Israel has not changed its warfare methods and means which have already led to the death of civilians.
Also, UN Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, Tor Wennesland, condemned Israeli airstrikes, targeting tents of displaced people in Rafah, leading to dozens of deaths and injuries, including women and children, in an area where families sought shelter.
Wennesland called for an investigation into the attack, for holding those responsible accountable, and for taking immediate action to protect the civilians.
He reiterated the call made by UN Secretary-General, António Guterres, for an immediate ceasefire to end the suffering of civilians.
“The United Nations remains steadfast in its commitment to supporting all efforts aimed at ending the hostilities, reducing tensions, and advancing the cause of peace,” he added.
Charles Michel, President of the European Council, stated that it is “horrendous to see innocent Palestinian civilians killed in the recent Israeli occupation’s attack on displaced persons’ camp in Rafah, in the southern Gaza Strip.”
