On Friday, August 2, day 301 of Israel’s ongoing assault on the entire population of the Gaza Strip, Israeli forces continued their unrelenting airstrikes, artillery shelling and ground invasions of civilian areas throughout Gaza.
Update: 11:59 pm — Five civilians, including three children, were killed on Friday evening in an Israeli airstrike on Gaza City.
The Palestinian Red Crescent Society said that paramedics were able to retrieve 5 bodies, including 3 children, an elderly man, and a woman, after the Israeli occupation bombed the Abu Hasira family home in the Sabra neighborhood in Gaza City. The bodies were transferred to what is left of the Arab Ahli (Baptist) Hospital in the city.
Six citizens, including a child, were killed on Friday evening in Israeli shelling of several areas in the Gaza Strip.
In a separate attack, local sources reported that four civilians were killed after being targeted by an Israeli drone in the Al-Sabra neighborhood, south of Gaza City.
In addition, a child was killed and a number of other civilians were injured in an Israeli occupation raid that targeted a house in Al-Bureij camp in the middle of the Strip. A civilian was also killed and two others were injured in a raid that targeted a house in the town of Bani Suhaila, east of Khan Yunis, in the south of the Strip.
Updated from: 17:47 pm — Three Palestinian civilians were killed today, Friday, in Israeli shelling south of Gaza City.
Eyewitnesses reported that the Israeli occupation forces bombed the Tal al-Hawa neighborhood, south of Gaza City, which led to the deaths of three civilians and the injury of others.
Four civilians were killed and others, including children and women, were injured on Friday morning in an Israeli airstrike on a residential apartment in the center of Khan Younis, south of the Gaza Strip.
The Palestinian Wafa news agency reported that four civilians were killed and others were injured when the Israeli occupation bombed a residential apartment belonging to the Barbakh family in the Abu Hamid roundabout area in the center of Khan Yunis. They were transferred to Nasser Medical Complex in the city.
Two civilians were killed and others were injured when the Israeli occupation aircraft bombed a group of civilians east of Al-Maghazi camp in the central Gaza Strip.
The Israeli occupation artillery bombed Al-Sikka Street, east of Al-Zeitoun neighborhood, southeast of Gaza City.
A funeral was held for two civilians from the Noufal family in Deir al-Balah, who were killed by an Israeli airstrike the previous day:
According to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), the main organization that has provided support for the Palestinian refugees in Gaza for decades, people in Gaza are facing yet another peril: Hepatitis A is spreading including among children.
Since the war began, UNRWA is reporting “nearly 40,000 cases in our shelters and clinics against only 85 in the same period before the war. This is a frightening increase.”
UNRWA also said that the situation in the West Bank is getting worse.
UNRWA added in a post Friday that the Nur Shams and Tulkarm camps are suffering from a shortage of water and power outages.
The organization pointed out that the operations of the Israeli occupation forces continue to cause destruction and threaten the lives of citizens in the West Bank, stressing that this “silent war” must end.
The Israeli occupation forces have continued their aggression on the Gaza Strip, by land, air and sea, since October 7, 2023, resulting in the deaths of 39,480 Palestinians, the majority of whom are children and women, and the injury of 91,128 others, while thousands of victims remain under the rubble and on the roads, where ambulance and civil defense crews cannot reach them.
