On Wednesday, Day 362 of the ongoing genocide, Israeli missiles and shells struck various parts of the coastal enclave, killing and wounding dozens of Palestinians, including many children and women.
9:00 PM October 2 Update:
A child was killed and two others were injured on Wednesday evening when the Israeli occupation forces shelled a house in Gaza City, bringing the death toll in the Gaza Strip since dawn today to 90, including children and women.
The Palestinian Red Crescent Society reported to the Palestinian Wafa news agency that a child was killed and other citizens were injured when the occupation artillery shelled the house of the Al-Helou family, near the Bank of Palestine in the Tel Al-Hawa neighborhood, southwest of Gaza City. They were transferred to the Arab Baptist Hospital in the city.
Earlier, 10 civilians were killed and 27 others were injured by US-funded bombs dropped by the Israeli occupation’s warplanes and drones on the Nuseirat and Bureij camps in the central Gaza Strip.
Three civilians were killed in an Israeli airstrike on the destroyed town of Khuza’a, east of Khan Yunis, in the southern Gaza Strip.
The Israeli occupation forces committed a new massacre in Khan Yunis on Wednesday, where more than 40 Palestinians were killed, most of them women and children, and dozens were injured .
Medical sources reported that the crews retrieved the bodies of the killed from under the rubble, after intensive aerial bombardment and a ground incursion by the occupation forces that targeted the southeastern areas of Khan Yunis, including the neighborhoods of Maan, Qizan al-Najjar, and al-Manara .
These massacres of civilians followed earlier bombings before dawn Wednesday (see below for the morning report) in which Israeli forces bombed a school and an orphanage housing displaced people in Gaza City, killing at least nine and wounding 17, most of them children.
The Israeli occupation forces continue their aggression on the Gaza Strip, by land, sea and air, since October 7, 2023, which resulted in the killing of at least 41,689 Palestinians and the injury of 96,625 others, the majority of whom are children and women, in an incomplete toll, as thousands of people are still missing under the rubble.
Among the slain Palestinians are at least 16,891 children, 11,458 women, 174 journalists, 85 emergency responders, 986 medical staff, and 203 UNRWA staff.
The British Lancet Medical Journal and other experts estimate the death toll in Gaza is much higher – and could be above 200,000, when counting both direct and indirect deaths related to the Israeli war on Gaza.
This most recent escalation of Israel’s ongoing military occupation of Palestine began October 7th 2023 when 1,143 Israelis were killed, including 767 civilians and 376 armed soldiers. Around 500 Israeli soldiers have been killed between October 7th and now – both in Gaza and on the Israeli border with Lebanon.
10:00 AM October 2 Report:
The Palestinian Health Ministry in Gaza said that early Wednesday, the Israeli army “committed a series of massacres across different areas of Gaza.”
In Gaza City, the army bombarded many areas, including Masqat School in the Tuffah neighborhood, in the eastern part of the city, where the army killed at least six Palestinians and injured seventeen.
Eight citizens were killed, and others injured in an airstrike targeting a house belonging to the Ghattas family, east of Gaza City. Intense explosions from artillery shelling were heard in southern Gaza City.
In Khan Younis, in the southern part of the Gaza Strip, the army fired dozens of missiles and shells, killing at least 40 Palestinians and wounding dozens, including many children and women.
Medical sources said twelve Palestinians were found under the rubble of the Abu Taha family homes in the Al-Manara neighborhood, south of the city.
The sources added that four Palestinians were killed and eight injured in an airstrike targeting a home, south of Khan Younis.
Fifteen Palestinians were killed in an airstrike targeting two tents and a car southwest of Khan Younis, while paramedics retrieved four slain Palestinians from Rafah, in Gaza’s southernmost part.
In addition, a Palestinian woman, Raiqa Abu Hammad, was also killed by Israeli army gunfire on Market Street in Bani Soheila, east of Khan Younis.
The Palestinian Health Ministry said the Israeli attacks on Khan Younis have killed more than 40 Palestinians and injured dozens, largely children and women, especially when the Israeli army invaded several parts of the city amidst intense aerial bombardment targeting the eastern area.
It is worth mentioning that an earlier attack on Khan Younis, targeting the home of Palestinian journalist Ahmad Zard, left many family members killed, including his sister and his cousins, while he, along with his mother, his two brothers, and six family members, were seriously injured.
In central Gaza, ten Palestinians were killed, and many were injured when the army bombarded a school sheltering displaced families in the Nuseirat refugee camp.
Furthermore, three Palestinian children were killed in an Israeli airstrike targeting citizens at the entrance of Al-Bureij refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip.
Israel has now killed at least 41,683 Palestinians, including more than 16,891 children and 11,458 women, and injured 96,460, largely children and women, since the start of the Israeli occupation aggression on October 7, 2023.
Thousands of victims are still under the rubble and on the roads, as the Israeli occupation army prevents ambulance and civil defense crews from reaching them, in addition to the serious destruction of infrastructure, streets, and the targeting of medical centers, ambulances, medics, and rescue teams.
Also among the slain Palestinians are 174 journalists, 85 emergency responders, 986 medical staff, and 203 UNRWA staff.
The British Lancet Medical Journal and other experts estimate the death toll in Gaza is much higher – and could be above 200,000 when counting both direct and indirect deaths related to the Israeli war on Gaza.
