Secretary-General of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), Dr. Saeb Erekat, stated Tuesday that all bilateral security coordination meetings with the Israeli side have been ceased.
Erekat told the Palestine Radio that the decision to suspend all security coordination with Israel was made after Israel clearly and officially informed the Palestinian Authority it is not committed to the signed peace agreements, and insists on continuing its invasions into all communities that are under full Palestinian “control.”
He added that the decision was also made after Israel declared its rejection to the French Initiative to hold an international peace conference, in an attempt to end the current tension, and resume direct political talks.
Erekat further said that the Central Committee of Fateh movement held a meeting, on Monday, to discuss a response to the Israeli stance, and came up with many decisions that will be publicly made, should the PLO Executive Committee adopt those decisions during its Wednesday meeting.
In February, Palestinian and Israeli security teams held a meeting, and the Palestinian side handed Israel an official letter demanding the army to stop its invasions into “Area A” in the West Bank, referring to territories that are supposed to be under full Palestinian security and civil control.
