NABLUS — Two Palestinian civilians were killed and five others, including a child, were wounded by live ammunition on Monday during an attack by armed Israeli colonizers on the village of Qaryut, south of Nablus.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health confirmed the deaths of two brothers: Muhammad Moammar (52), who was shot in the head, and Fahim Moammar (47), who died after being shot in the pelvis.

Local sources reported that armed Israeli colonizers targeted civilian homes in southern Qaryut, firing live rounds directly at residents and their property. The Palestinian Red Crescent Society stated that its emergency crews treated five additional casualties:

A 53-year-old man (gunshot wound to the head)

A 45-year-old man (gunshot wound to the head)

A 30-year-old man (gunshot wound to the shoulder)

A 32-year-old man (gunshot wound to the knee)

A 15-year-old child (gunshot wound to the shoulder)

Colonizer violence in the West Bank reached unprecedented levels in 2025. Data from the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), as well as organizations such as Peace Now and B’Tselem, highlight a significant escalation in both the frequency and severity of these incidents.

Reports indicate that colonizers committed 1,800 attacks against Palestinians in 2025, resulting in nine fatalities and 838 injuries. This trend has persisted into 2026; including today’s attack, the first two months of the year have already seen three Palestinians killed and 117 injured. As of early March 2026, OCHA and its humanitarian partners confirm that this violence continues at a high intensity.
