Dozens of United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) employees, on Tuesday, demonstrated inside the agency’s office in the Gaza Strip, in protest of the agency’s plan to terminate the contracts of dozens of employees.

WAFA correspondence said that the dozens of employees demonstrated inside the UNRWA headquarters office and demanded the agency to reverse its measures against emergency employees and give them equal standing with the rest of the agency’s employees.

He said that the employees broke into the office, yesterday, and prevented UNRWA Operations Director Matthias Schmale from leaving his office, in protest of the terminating measures against them.

Schmale eventually succeeded in leaving his office under protection of several bodyguards and some security workers in the agency.
