At least 15 Palestinian civilians, including children, were injured—one critically—on Monday evening after Israeli military drones dropped explosive devices and opened fire on groups of civilians in the Daraj neighborhood, east of Gaza City.
The attack occurred near the As’ad Al-Saftawi School, which currently shelters displaced families.
The victims were transferred to the Arab Ahli Baptist Hospital, where one individual was reported in critical condition.
Israeli drones also dropped explosives in the vicinity of the Sanafur area in the Tuffah neighborhood and opened fire near Moshtaha Street in Shuja’iyya, further east in Gaza City.
The targeted areas are densely populated and host large numbers of displaced civilians. No warning was issued prior to the strikes.
The incident adds to mounting concerns over the use of drone warfare in civilian zones and the ongoing pattern of attacks near shelters and medical facilities.
On Sunday, three Palestinians were killed in an Israeli attack in southern Gaza as Israeli forces continue to breach the ceasefire agreement, striking the war-torn enclave while aid remains restricted and winter conditions intensify the suffering.
Since the mediated ceasefire came into effect, at least 262 people have been killed and more than 630 wounded in Gaza. Humanitarian groups warn that continued strikes on populated areas are exacerbating an already dire humanitarian situation and placing civilians at ongoing risk.
Medical sources in Gaza reported Thursday that the death toll from Israel’s genocide of the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip has surpassed 69,187 Palestinians, with the vast majority being women and children.
