Trees Uprooted, Orders Issued to Uproot More Near Hebron
Israeli soldiers uprooted dozens of olive trees on Tuesday in the town of Ethna, west of Hebron in the southern West Bank, and issued notices signaling plans to uproot thousands more along the route of the Annexation Wall.
Abdul‑Rahman Tmeizi, head of public relations at the Ethna Municipality, said the forces uprooted olive trees and bulldozed wide areas of Palestinian‑owned land at the town’s entrance, adjacent to Bypass Road 35. The land belongs to resident Mahmoud Afifi Tmeizi.
He added that Israeli forces informed residents of their intention to uproot thousands of olive, almond, and other trees along an eight‑kilometer stretch of the Wall that surrounds the town from the west.
Tmeizi warned that the move would seize what remains of Ethna’s agricultural land and severely impact the farming sector, the primary source of income for many families.
Tmeizi noted that Ethna has been facing an intensified colonization campaign, including the continued closure of its main northern entrance, the confiscation of large areas of land, the establishment of a colonial outpost on the eastern side of the town, and the seizure of hundreds of dunams. The latest notices, he said, aim to take over the remaining lands on the western side.
