The Israeli military continued its violations of the ceasefire agreement for the 230th consecutive day on Wednesday, carrying out multiple strikes across the Gaza Strip that killed eleven Palestinians—including a senior Al‑Qassam Brigades leader—and wounded several others, in 24 hours.
Family sources confirmed the killing of Mohammad Odah (Abu Amro), described as the general commander of the Al‑Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, along with his wife and their son Yasser, after Israeli warplanes targeted a residential building in the Rimal neighborhood of Gaza City. A Palestinian woman and her child were also killed while passing beneath the building at the moment of the assassination strike.
Israeli aircraft conducted two strikes on the Rimal neighborhood within a short interval, with the second attack causing additional injuries among nearby residents.
On Tuesday, Avichay Adraee, the Israeli army’s Arabic‑language spokesperson, announced that the Israeli military and the Shin Bet intelligence agency had “successfully eliminated” Mohammad Odah.
According to Adraee, the operation was carried out jointly by the army and the Shin Bet and involved strikes on several buildings in the center of Gaza City that, according to the army, “were being used as hideouts by Odah.”
He stated that the attack followed months of intelligence monitoring aimed at tracking Odah’s movements and those of his close associates.
Adraee added that, simultaneously, Israeli forces targeted a nearby apartment belonging to a Hamas member who, according to the army, “participated in the October 7 attack and was part of Odah’s support network.”

Earlier on Tuesday morning, at least five Palestinians were killed and seven others were wounded in an Israeli airstrike east of the Al‑Maghazi refugee camp in central Gaza. Witnesses said Israeli reconnaissance aircraft fired missiles at a group of Palestinians as Israeli‑aligned militias advanced toward the outskirts of the camp. The bodies of the victims—Yousef Nabil Al‑Meghari, Fadi Al‑Meghari, Abdul‑Karim Al‑Bashiti, Saleh Al‑Bashiti, and Hassan As‑Sayed—were transferred to Al‑Aqsa Hospital in Deir al‑Balah.
At midday, two additional Palestinians were killed when Israeli aircraft targeted a vehicle in the Al‑Mawasi area west of Khan Younis in southern Gaza. Local sources identified them as Mohammad Sa’id Al‑Habbash and Ehab Issa Krayzem, whose bodies were recovered and transported to Nasser Medical Complex.
Medical sources in Gaza reported that hospitals received six Palestinians killed, including two whose bodies were recovered from targeted areas, and 34 wounded in the past 24 hours.
Since the ceasefire began on October 11, the total number of Palestinians killed has risen to 906, with 2,747 wounded, in addition to 781 bodies recovered from destroyed areas.
Since the start of the Israeli assault on Gaza on October 7, 2023, the overall death toll has reached 72,803 Palestinians, with 172,855 wounded.

May 27, 2026 at 07:13
Israeli warplanes carried out an intense strike on a residential building in Gaza City on Tuesday evening and earlier Wednesday, in what Israeli media described as an attempt to assassinate Mohammad Odah, identified by Israeli sources as the newly appointed Chief of Staff of the Al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas.
Despite the scale of the attack, the Israeli military has not confirmed that Odah was killed, and Israeli outlets reported that the army is still “assessing the results” of the operation.
The Israeli outlet 0404 reported that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Gallant stated that the “target of the operation in Gaza is Mohammad Odah, Chief of Staff of the Al Qassam Brigades.”
Israeli Channel 12 and Channel 13 said the strike targeted “a senior military figure in Hamas,” but emphasized that the army has not verified whether Odah was killed.
Israeli Yedioth Ahronoth reported that the attack was carried out against a multi‑story residential building in Gaza City and that the military “cannot yet confirm the elimination of the target.”
Haaretz said the Israeli military censor has not permitted the publication of any information regarding the outcome of the attempted assassination.
As of this report, no Israeli outlet has confirmed Odah’s death, and no Palestinian source has reported his presence among the casualties.
The strike resulted in the killing of a Palestinian woman and the injury of several others after Israeli warplanes fired multiple missiles at a residential building in the al‑Rimal neighborhood.
Local sources reported that several explosions struck the building, located on a busy street on the eve of the holiday.
According to Israeli media, Odah is a member of the military council of the Al-Qassam Brigades and previously served as head of intelligence for the Brigades.
Some Israeli outlets describe him as the new Chief of Staff of the Al-Qassam Brigades in Gaza.
Minutes after the initial attack, Israeli warplanes struck another building in the same area, which Israeli media described as part of the same operation.
As of the time of publication, no Israeli military statement confirms Odah’s death, no medical source in Gaza has identified him among the casualties, and Israeli media continues to report the strike as an attempted assassination, with the outcome unknown.
Israeli occupation forces carried out a series of deadly airstrikes across the Gaza Strip on Tuesday, killing at least twelve Palestinians, including a fifteen-year-old girl, and wounding several others.
