Israeli occupation authorities issued stop‑work and stop‑construction notices on Thursday targeting eight Palestinian homes and agricultural structures in the Yatta desert area, south of Hebron in the southern occupied West Bank.
Local activist Osama Makhmara stated that Israeli forces invaded the village of Umm Qissa and delivered the orders, which affect structures belonging to members of the al‑Otheymin family, including Salama, Mousa, Mahmoud, Mohammad, Omar, and Abdullah.
The targeted buildings include residential units and agricultural facilities that were still under construction.
The latest notices come amid a sharp escalation in Israel’s demolition and displacement policies across the occupied West Bank.
According to data from the Wall & Colonization Resistance Commission, Israeli authorities carried out 538 demolition operations in 2025, targeting 1,400 structures—a record increase reflecting a systematic effort to restrict Palestinian construction and natural population growth.
These demolitions included 304 inhabited homes, seventy-four uninhabited homes, 270 livelihood‑related structures, and 490 agricultural facilities, with the highest concentration in the governorates of Hebron, occupied Jerusalem, Ramallah, Tubas, and Nablus.
The Commission noted that the number of demolition and stop-construction notices delivered to Palestinians increased to 991 notices in 2025, with Hebron recording the highest number at 276, followed by 169 in Ramallah, and 124 each in Bethlehem and occupied Jerusalem.
