A statement from the Commission for Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs, the Palestinian Prisoners’ Society, and Addameer Prisoner Support and Human Rights Association, said that the total number of arrests in the West Bank, from October 7th until today amounted to at least 7,895.
This figure includes 258 women, 500 children, and 64 journalists.
The report added that the Israeli arrest campaigns have involved “escalating crimes and violations, including: hazing operations, severe beatings, and threats against detainees and their families, in addition to widespread sabotage and destruction of citizens’ homes, and the confiscation of vehicles, money, and gold jewelry, and the widespread destruction operations that affected infrastructure, specifically in the Tulkarem, Jenin and their refugee camps”.
The outcome of the arrest campaigns after October 7, according to the report, includes all those who were arrested from homes, through military checkpoints, those who were forced to surrender themselves under pressure, and those who were held hostage.
Prisoners’ institutions said that in addition to these arrest campaigns, the occupation forces carried out field executions, including members of the detainees’ families.
The statement added that the data does “not include any information about the number of arrests from Gaza, because the occupation refuses to this day to disclose them, and carries out the crime of enforced disappearance against them, knowing that their numbers are estimated in the thousands, noting that the occupation has arrested hundreds of Gaza workers.”
The total number of Palestinian prisoners held in Israeli prisons at the end of February was 9,100, including 3,558 administrative detainees.
According to the prisoner’s institutions, 793 of those imprisoned were classified as “unlawful combatants” from Gaza.
