Israeli forces, on Monday, invaded and caused severe damage to infrastructure in the Nur Shams refugee camp, east of Tulkarem in the northwestern part of the occupied West Bank.
A large army force invaded the city of Tulkarem, in the early morning hours of Monday, from its western axis, accompanied by a military bulldozer and a front-end loader.
Several military vehicles roamed the streets of Tulkarem, heading for the Nur Shams refugee camp, east of the city.
Once inside the camp, occupation soldiers fired many live rounds, smoke bombs, and tear gas canisters, while armed Palestinian resistance fighters exchanged fire with the invading army, and utilized a crude explosive device against an armored bulldozer.
Military reinforcements arrived and besieged the camp, before storming many neighborhoods, while bulldozers destroyed vital infrastructure in the camp and its outskirts.
Media sources said that a soldier driving a military bulldozer attempted to run over a Palestinian young man while he was walking on a sidewalk; no injuries were reported.
Later sources reported that bulldozers destroyed many streets in the camp, especially on Nablus Street, at the main entrance to the camp, where they dug deep trenches.
According to Rami Alyan, Secretary of the Popular Services Committee in the camp, the army caused severe damage to several commercial shops, including the doors, and walls.
He added that bulldozers caused destruction to infrastructure in the center of the camp, affecting sanitation networks, water lines, and internet networks.
Alyan added that the occupation forces destroyed infrastructure that had been repaired after previous incursions against the camp, and speculated that the goal of the occupation army is to force Palestinian citizens to leave their homes.
