On Thursday morning, Israeli soldiers killed one Palestinian and injured another, at the Deir Sharaf military roadblock, west of Nablus in the occupied West Bank’s northern part.
Eyewitnesses said the soldiers fired at a young man’s car near the military roadblock, inflicting serious wounds before he bled to death.
Media sources identified the slain young man as ِ Mansour Jalal Mahmoud Jaber, 27, a citizen of the village of Jalqamus, southeast of Jenin in the northern West Bank.
They added that the attack led to protests before the soldiers fired live rounds, rubber-coated steel bullets, and gas bombs, wounding a Palestinian, in his thirties, with a live round in the arm.
The Israeli army claimed that the soldiers fatally shot the Palestinian after he opened fire at them when they stopped his car at the military roadblock.
An Eyewitness, who was nearly killed in the incident but survived unharmed, denied the Israeli military allegation, and said the soldiers fired barraged of live rounds at the car when it approached the roadblock.
The Quds News Network said the soldiers also prevented Palestinian medics and journalists from approaching the area, and pushed them away.
The army closed the military roadblock in both directions and started forcing the Palestinian cars and residents to leave the area.
In related news, illegal Israeli colonizers hurled stones at Palestinian cars near Bazaria village junction, northwest of Nablus, causing damage.
In addition, the Israeli army increased the restrictions on the Tayasir military roadblock, east of Tubas in the northeastern West Bank, leading to extended traffic jams and preventing dozens of Palestinians from entering or leaving the Northern Plains of the Jordan Valley.
The army frequently closes the roadblock or increases the restrictions which disrupts the daily lives and businesses of thousands of Palestinians due to its strategic location.
