Israeli soldiers shot and killed, on Thursday, two young Palestinian men, injured others, some seriously, abducted dozens, detonated homes, and damaged infrastructure in the Tulkarem refugee camp in Tulkarem and the Nur Shams camp, in the northwestern part of the occupied West Bank.


Update: The slain Palestinians during the 45-hour invasion of Tulkarem have been identified as:

  1. Ahmad Tareq No’man Faraj, 18, from Tulkarem refugee camp.
  2. Walid Ibrahim Mohammad Ghanem, 17, from Tulkarem refugee camp.
  3. Ahmad Mousa Baddu, 17, from Tulkarem refugee camp.
  4. Ahmad Mo’in Thieb Mahdawi, 35, from Tulkarem refugee camp.
  5. Mohammad Motea’ Mahmoud Salit, 22, from Tulkarem refugee camp.
  6. Abdul-Rahman Essam Ibrahim Othman, 23, from Tulkarem refugee camp.
  7. Ashraf Ahmad Yassin Yassin, 22, from Ezbet Al-Jarad, east of Tulkarem.
  8. Mohammad Faisal Dawwas Abu Awwad, 27, from Nur Shams refugee camp.

Published on: Jan 19, 2024 at 02:55: The body of another young man was found in the Tulkarem camp, presumed to have been shot by Israeli sharpshooters at the beginning of the aggression.

Since 4:30 am on Wednesday, the Israeli army has carried out a military incursion against the city of Tulkarem, the Tulkarem refugee camp, and the Nur Shams refugee camp east of the city.

On Thursday morning, medical sources at the Dr. Thabet Thabet Governmental Hospital in Tulkarem announced the death of the young man, Mohammad Faisal Dawwas Abu Awwad, 27.

Israeli forces shot Abu Awad in the abdomen with live rounds, in the Nur Shams refugee camp, east of Tulkarem; the sixth young man to be killed by occupation forces since the beginning of the aggression which began at 4:30 am on Wednesday.

After forcing its residents to leave, Israeli forces detonated the home of citizen, Omar Hussein Amara in the “Schools” neighborhood in the Tulkarem refugee camp.

This completely destroyed the home, causing it and surrounding homes to start on fire, causing damage.

Israeli forces, accompanied by a military bulldozer, stormed the Al-Manshiyya neighborhood in Nur Shams camp, razing infrastructure and destroying the house of the citizen Abu Youssef Shehadeh.

Many explosions could be heard throughout the camp as residents protested the ongoing attacks and destruction.

Military reinforcements were pushed towards the Tulkarem camp, from the western entrance of Tulkarem, while large numbers of foot soldiers were deployed throughout the streets.

Soldiers stormed and searched homes, harassing their owners and used homes as military barracks and interrogation centers

They also invaded shops and public facilities, including Al-Salam Mosque, which was stormed and vandalized, and burned the Abu Ghazala family home in the Tulkarem camp.

Media reports said that over the past two days, hundreds of Palestinian citizens, some as young as 16-years-old have been handcuffed, blindfolded, abducted, and taken to field investigation centers.

Many of those who were later released reported abuse, assault, and death threats at the hands of the occupation army.

Some of the released abductees were transported to Martyr Thabet Thabet Governmental Hospital for treatment.

East of Tulkarem, the army razed the entrance to the Thannaba suburb near the Tulkarem camp, and smashed the windows of several vehicles, near the Shweika suburb north of the city.

In the city of Tulkarem, the army invaded a residential building and abducted Tayseer Shreiteh, Abdullah Shreiteh, and Muhammad Adeeb Shreiteh, after assaulting them.

The ongoing military incursion was accompanied by the low altitude flight of reconnaissance drones over the area.

It was added that occupation forces obstructed the work of Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS) ambulances, preventing them from entering the Tulkarem refugee camp.

Media sources reported that many Palestinians were shot by Israeli sharpshooters, but the full extent of their numbers are unknown due to the army blocking ambulances from entering the Tulkarem camp.

A source with the PRCS said that several calls were received from citizens inside the camp about gunshot injuries, some of which were serious.

He added that the occupation forces deployed at the entrances to the camp prevented ambulances from entering the camp, subjecting them to searches and detention.

Ambulance crews were able to transport three victims of assault, in addition to a young man, 22, who sustained a critical gunshot wound to the abdomen, another young man, 28, who was shot in the thigh, and a child who sustained a shrapnel wound in the eye; they were all transported to the Martyr Thabet Thabet Governmental Hospital in Tulkarem city.

Soldiers chased many citizens in the city of Tulkarem, stopping and searching vehicles, while interrogating and torturing their occupants.

In the northern neighborhood of the city, soldiers abducted the former prisoner, Saif Hussam Idris Ezroun after breaking into his home.

Later Thursday afternoon, media sources reported that occupation forces shot and killed Abdul Rahman Othman in the Sheikh neighborhood in the Tulkarem refugee camp; he is the seventh to be killed during the ongoing assault.

According to eyewitnesses, soldiers shot the young man with live ammunition and left him bleeding on the ground for many hours, denying medical treatment.

Photos revealed that the army tied the young man’s feet together and dragged him on the ground.

In the predawn hours of Friday, the body of Mohammad Motea’ Mahmoud Salit, 22, was found in the Tulkarem camp.

The Palestinian Red Crescent Society ambulance crews were able to transport the body to the Martyr Thabet Thabet Governmental Hospital.

Media sources added that the young man was shot with live ammunition by Israeli sharpshooters at the beginning of the prolonged aggression.

According to citizen reports, the army detonated homes and facilities after forcing out their residents by gunpoint, while soldiers also caused damage to dozens of vehicles in the camp.

Some of the homes affected belong to slain Palestinians, Abdel Karim Badirat, Uday Al-Zayat, in addition to Muhammad and Ahmed Mutee Salit.

Other homes belonged to Muhammad Muslim, Muhammad Shehadeh, Abu Bakr Al-Husri, in addition to the shop belonging to the Abu Hish family.

On Wednesday, the Israeli army killed five Palestinians, including two children, injured at least five others, including a child and three paramedics, and detonated the home of Azmi Al-Ghanem.

The slain Palestinians were identified as

  3. Ahmad Mousa Mutlaq Baddu, 17,
  4. Ahmad Mo’in Thieb Mahdawi, 35, and
  5. Ashraf Ahmad Yassin, 22.

During the operation, the army invaded and ransacked dozens of homes, attacked journalists, and destroyed streets and infrastructure.
