Israeli forces killed two Palestinians, including an elderly woman, and shot four others, on Thursday, after invading the Balata refugee camp, east of Nablus in the northern occupied West Bank.

The Palestinian Health Ministry announced that the elderly woman, Halima Saleh Hassan Abu Al-Layl, 80, succumbed to critical gunshot wounds after occupation forces shot her in the chest, leg, and hand.

Additionally, the Ministry announced the death of the young man, Qusay Hamed Issa Sarouji, 25, after Israeli forces shot him in the head with live rounds, causing critical injuries.

In a statement, Ahmad Jibril, the Director of Ambulance and Emergency at the Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS) said its ambulance crews transported three wounded citizens to the hospital.

Jibril added that an elderly man (65) was shot in the abdomen, while two young men sustained live gunshot wounds, including one to the abdomen; another young man suffered a shrapnel injury to the face and was treated in the field.

Media sources said that occupation forces prevented ambulances from entering the camp to reach those injured inside, and opened fire in the vicinity of the ambulances.

Media sources said that undercover Israeli agents “Musta’ribeen” infiltrated the Balata refugee camp, on Thursday morning, followed by large military reinforcements that stormed several neighborhoods and besieged a house in the camp.

Soldiers demanded via loudspeakers that one of the wanted young men surrender himself to the army, and fired many live rounds, tear gas canisters, and concussion grenades toward citizens.

Armed Palestinian resistance fighters confronted the invading army with live rounds and crude explosive devices, while sharpshooters were positioned on the rooftops of tall buildings, amid the overhead flight of reconnaissance drones.
