Israeli occupation authorities announced, on Wednesday, that they will hand over the body of slain Palestinian minor Omar Ibrahim Abu Assab, 16, from the Al-‘Isawiya neighborhood in occupied East Jerusalem.
On November 17, 2021, Abu Assab was shot and killed by Israeli officers and a civilian guard after he allegedly stabbed two officers in Jerusalem.
Quds Press received a statement from attorney, Muhammad Mahmoud, with the “Wadi Hilweh Information Center” for minors stating that the decision to release the slain child had been made through consultation between the Occupation Public Prosecution and the army.
No date or time has been arranged for the release of the body to the family for a proper burial, which is customarily held as close to the time of death as possible.
A surveillance video shows that the civilian guard shot the child after he was already apprehended by Israeli officers, proving the excessive use of force used by Israeli forces.
Soon after the incident, Israeli soldiers, intelligence agents, and police officers stormed the family’s home, and ransacked it, before abducting the slain teen’s parents and brother, subjecting them to interrogation.
