On Monday, a group of illegal paramilitary Israeli colonizers placed concrete blocks around Palestinian water springs in the Khirbet ad-Deir village, in the Northern Plains of the Jordan Valley in the occupied West Bank.
Omar Foqaha’, the head of Ein Al-Baida Village Council, stated that the colonizers invaded the area and placed concrete blocks around several Palestinian water springs to prevent locals from using them.
Foqaha’ added that the colonizers have repeatedly invaded the area, attempting to establish new colonialist outposts.
He stated that the colonizers are isolating water springs to prevent Palestinians from using them for drinking, irrigation, and daily necessities. These springs serve as a major lifeline for communities in the area.
Paramilitary Israeli colonizers have been frequently targeting Palestinian Bedouin communities in the area.
About ten days ago, in the Ein Al-Hilwa region, colonizers burned residential tents, stole livestock, and attacked Bedouin families. These actions have caused significant harm to the livelihoods of the affected communities.
In the Arab Al-Mleihat Bedouin community, northwest of Jericho, colonizers carried out various violations, include incidents of property destruction, such as burning agricultural lands and demolishing residential structures. These serious violations have disrupted the daily lives of the Bedouin families and are part of ongoing tensions in the region.
On Saturday, the paramilitary Israeli colonizers attacked Palestinian communities in Hebron, Jericho, and Ramallah, in the occupied West Bank, causing several injuries.
Last Friday evening, Israeli soldiers invaded Sinjil town, north of the central West Bank city of Ramallah, and seriously injured a young man as Palestinians were fending off an attack by a group of illegal paramilitary Israeli colonizers who also burned an entire Palestinian farm.
All of Israel’s colonies in the occupied West Bank, including those in and around occupied East Jerusalem, are illegal under International Law, the Fourth Geneva Convention in addition to various United Nations and Security Council resolutions. They also constitute war crimes under International Law.
Article 49 of the Fourth Geneva Convention states: “The Occupying Power [Israel] shall not deport or transfer parts of its own civilian population into the territory it occupies [Palestine].” It also prohibits the “individual or mass forcible transfers, as well as deportations of protected persons from occupied territory”.
