Israeli forces shot and killed, on Sunday evening, a Palestinian who allegedly attempting to carry out a stabbing attack at the Husan Junction near Beitar Illit illegal colony, west of Bethlehem in the southern occupied West Bank.

Media sources identified the executed young man as Rami Rashed Al-Batha, 35, a citizen of Battir, northwest of Bethlehem.

According to the Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS), the young man was shot with live ammunition in the chest and abdomen, and died at the scene.

The army initially confiscated the slain man’s corpse before releasing it to the PRCS, who transported his body to Beit Jala Governmental Hospital.

Later the Palestinian Ministry of Health examined the body and reported that the Israeli forces shot the young man with at least twenty rounds to several parts of his body, before taking his corpse away, and a few hours afterwards the Palestinian Red Crescent Society retrieved his body and moved it to Beit Jala governmental hospital.

Israeli media claimed that the young man attempted to stab soldiers, causing no injuries, at the Husan Junction, when soldiers opened fire on him.

It is worth mentioning that the slain Palestinian was shot just meters from his home at the entrance of Battir.

Since the beginning of the military onslaught against the Gaza Strip on October 7, 2023, Israeli forces have killed 392 Palestinian citizens in the occupied West Bank, in addition to more than 28.176 Palestinians dead and 67.784 injured, mostly children and women, in several parts of the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023.
