Another humanitarian aid flotilla of ships trying to bring desperately-needed humanitarian aid to the starving population of Gaza has been intercepted by the Israeli navy in international waters, an estimated 120 km off the coast of Gaza.

Currently at least two boats have been intercepted and most livestreams have been disconnected.

The ‘Conscience’ was attacked by Israeli military drones earlier this year in European waters and damaged, preventing it from traveling to Gaza as scheduled. Now, with the damage repaired, the ship has again been attacked by the Israeli navy 120 km off the coast of Gaza. This vessel carries 92 people of conscience, mostly medical and media professionals. Reports from passengers stated that as of 4 am, the vessel is currently being attacked by an Israeli military helicopter while the 8 sailboats are being illegally intercepted and hijacked.

The 1000 Madleens to Gaza is a global civil society campaign aiming to organize a massive maritime flotilla of 1000 ships from many nations worldwide. The campaign seeks to break the blockade of Gaza through peaceful, coordinated international action, inspired by the voyage earlier this year of the vessel “Madleen.”

The boats come just a few days after the Freedom Flotilla of 45 boats attempted to break the Israeli naval blockade of Gaza. All the boats and passengers were captured, but one boat managed to come within sight of the Gaza shore, where starved and besieged Palestinian civilians cheered the sight of international humanitarian aid activists trying desperately to break the blockade and bring food and medicine to the people of Gaza.

The goal of the Thousand Madleens campaign is to challenge the illegal blockade through peaceful resistance, bringing international attention to the humanitarian crisis and demanding open borders.
