Israeli forces killed, on Tuesday, a Palestinian young man and shot three others, during confrontations that erupted during the demolition of two apartments in the central West Bank cities of Ramallah and Al-Biereh.
In Ramallah, the army invaded the Al-Tira neighborhood before dawn and stormed a residential building where the apartment for detainee, Ayser Barghouthi is located, sparking protests.
Soldiers opened fire with live rounds and tear gas canisters, leading to the injury of four young men, one critically and one seriously.
Later, media sources said that the young man, Moataz Mohammed Omar Sarsour, 19, from al-Amari refugee camp east of Ramallah, died from a critical gunshot wound to the chest, inflicted on him by occupation forces.
The critically wounded, Sarsour was initially rushed to the Palestine Medical Complex in Ramallah, where doctors pronounced that he had succumbed to his critical wounds.
Sources added that soldiers shot at least three others, one of whom was shot in the back and seriously wounded, while the PRCS said that a 20-year-old man was shot in the leg with a live round and a 31-year-old man was run over by an Israeli military vehicle.
Before dawn on Tuesday, Israeli forces stormed the cities of Ramallah and Al-Biereh to prepare for the detonation of two apartments belonging to present detainees, Ayser Barghouthi in Ramallah and Khaled Al-Kharouf in Al-Biereh.
Soldiers invaded the Umm Al-Sharait neighborhood in the city of Al-Biereh and broke into the residential apartment to detonate the apartment for detainee Dr. Khaled Al-Kharouf is located, triggering protests.
Media sources said that Israeli forces fired tear gas canisters in the vicinity of citizens’ homes; no injuries were reported.
It is important to mention that the detainees, Barghouthi and Al-Kharouf were abducted by Israeli forces on January 8, 2024 after being accused of carrying out a shooting operation east of Ramallah city on July 31, 2023.
The home of a third detainee, Mourid Dahhadha, accused of participating in the attack, was also detonated by occupation forces, in the village of Atara, north of Ramallah.
In related news, Israeli forces shot and killed a Palestinian young man identified as Tareq Ziad Daoud, 18, in the town of Azzoun, east of Qalqilia, in the northwestern part of the occupied West Bank.
