Israeli forces shot a Palestinian young man on Saturday, after an alleged stabbing attempt in the southern West Bank city of Hebron.
The Palestinian Health Ministry announced that occupation forces shot and seriously injured the young man, Ahmed Barakat Noman Sharif, 35, after an alleged stabbing attempt in Hebron city.
Media sources said that Israeli soldiers opened fire at the young man while he was present at the Tel Rumeida military roadblock in central Hebron, and obstructed ambulance crews from approaching him, while he lay on the ground bleeding heavily.
The Arab 48 News website quoted Israeli sources which claimed that the young man, allegedly armed with a knife, attempted to carry out a stabbing attack; there were no reports of any soldiers injured in the purported attack.
The same source added that military reinforcements were sent to the area, where soldiers closed all entrances leading to the Tel Rumeida neighborhood, in addition to the adjacent Shuhada Street, and conducted extensive searches.
The Ma’an News Agency quoted eyewitnesses who stated that the young man sustained a live gunshot wound to the leg, while soldiers handcuffed him, placed him on a stretcher, and loaded him into an Israeli Magen David Adom ambulance.
