At dawn on Saturday, Israeli occupation forces launched a wide‑scale military assault in the town of Beit Ummar, north of Hebron, in the occupied West Bank’s southern part, and detained dozens of residents.
The invasion targeted dozens of homes and was accompanied by deliberate destruction and assaults.
Mohammad Ayyad Awad reported that large military units stormed several neighborhoods, breaking into dozens of houses and conducting searches marked by intentional vandalism.
He added that more than 30 residents were detained and gathered in the yard of a brick factory.
Awad added that soldiers carried out field interrogations with the detainees, hurling insults and threats in abusive language.
Troops also deliberately damaged part of a memorial bearing the names of Beit Ummar’s slain Palestinians, and fired dozens of stun grenades, particularly in the town center.
All detainees were later released, though the traces of the military assault remain evident in residents’ homes and across the town’s surroundings.
In related news, Israeli soldiers invaded the neighborhoods of Jaber, Salayma and Wadi Al-Haseen in Hebron, before imposing a siege and a curfew imprisoning the families in their homes.
On Thursday, Israeli occupation forces abducted 56 Palestinians, including two women, from Hebron governorate, mostly from Beit Ummar, in a wide-scale campaign of invasions and abuse.
On Wednesday, the Palestinian Prisoners’ Society (PPS) reported that Israeli occupation forces continue to carry out systematic abduction campaigns and field interrogations in Hebron, in the occupied West Bank’s southern part , with escalating brutality and scope.
In the Wadi al-Hariya neighborhood of Hebron city, soldiers stormed the family home, Imran Ibrahim Imran al-Atrash, 18, and completely destroyed its contents.
It is worth mentioning that Imran, along with Walid Mohammad Sabarna, 18, from Beit Ummar, north of Hebron were killed on Tuesday evening near the Gush Etzion colonialist bloc south of Bethlehem, in the occupied West Bank, following a what Israel said “a ramming and stabbing attack” that left one Israeli dead and three others wounded.
