On Saturday, Israeli navy ships attacked Palestinian fishing boats and chased them near the shores of Gaza City.

The Palestinian Fishermen’s Syndicate said the Israeli navy ships fired many live rounds and rubber-coated steel bullets and used water cannons against the fishing boats on the Al-Waha and As-Sudaniyya shores, northwest of Gaza City.

The Syndicate added that the navy tried to capsize the fishing boats before chasing them to the shore.

On Thursday, the Navy fired sporadic rounds of live ammunition and rubber-coated steel bullets at fishing boats in the Al-Waha area, wounding one fisherman with a rubber-coated steel bullet.

Last Monday, the navy attacked fishing boats in northern Gaza and abducted five fishermen before releasing three later.

The Gaza Strip has about 4000 fishermen supporting more than 60.000 persons in the coastal region that has been under strict Israeli siege for the last 17 years.

The attacks are part of constant Israeli violations against the Palestinians, especially the fishermenfarmersshepherds, and workers in the besieged and impoverished Gaza Strip, and resulted in dozens of casualties, including fatalities, in addition to severe property damage and the confiscation of many boats after abducting the fishermen.
