Israeli police forces on Sunday, invaded one of the neighborhoods in the internationally-recognized occupied East Jerusalem, and abducted two Palestinian youths, local sources reported.

Sources and witnesses said that Israeli police in the old city of East Jerusalem, broke into the homes of Ahmad Salayma and Mohammad Swaity and abducted the two youths.

The abduction came hours after Israeli police broke into the home of Fatah party’s representative in East Jerusalem, Shadi Matour, as well as the arrest and subsequent release of Palestinian Authority’s governor for Jerusalem, Adnan Gheith.

In a statement, released on Sunday, Palestinian National and Islamic factions in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, decried Israeli authorities’ arrest campaigns, which also included the Palestinian Authority’s minister for Jerusalem affairs, Fadi Aldahmi.

The factions demanded Israeli occupation authorities desist in their recent efforts to target Palestinian dignitaries in occupied East Jerusalem.

Their statement asserted the Palestinian factions’ determination to protect the Palestinian population in East Jerusalem, with Coronavirus having plagued Palestinian territories and Israel, alike.

The factions hold Israel responsible for the health and welfare of Palestinian residents of East Jerusalem, claiming that Israel is neglecting the health care of those residents.

They also noted that Palestinian officials and residents’ attempts to take necessary precaution measures, across East Jerusalem, are important, while Israel ‘is not doing enough’ to maintain Palestinian public health.
