Illegal Israeli settlers set up, on Tuesday, a barbed wire fence between the illegal “Maskiot” and “Rotem” colonies, east of Tubas in the northeastern part of the occupied West Bank, according to the head of al-Maleh village council.

Mahdi Daraghmeh said that several Israeli colonizers placed barbed-wire fence around a tract of land near the Ain Al-Hilweh area, between the two settlements, belonging to local Palestinian citizens.

Daraghmeh suggested that the intent of the colonists is to prevent Palestinian shepherds from grazing their livestock in their own pastures, as a prelude to expropriating more Palestinian land for the benefit of the nearby settlements.

All Israeli settlements, outposts, and settlers are illegal under International Humanitarian Law (IHL).

Article 49 of the Fourth Geneva Convention states;

The Occupying Power [ISRAEL] shall not deport or transfer parts of its own civilian population into the territory it occupies [PALESTINE].
