Israeli soldiers abducted, overnight until the morning hours of Wednesday, at least 14 citizens from the West Bank, including the mother of a slain Palestinian and former political prisoners, from their homes in various parts of the occupied West Bank.

The Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs and the Palestinian Prisoners’ Society said in a joint statement that the soldiers stormed and ransacked dozens of homes in the governorates of Hebron, Bethlehem, Jenin, Nablus, and Ramallah.

They added that the soldiers assaulted many Palestinians while ransacking their homes and threatened the detainees and their families.

Among the abducted Palestinians is Tahani Masoud Mona, the mother of Ja’far Sa’ad Mona, 30, from Nablus in the northern West Bank; Ja’far was killed on August 18 after he reportedly carried out an attack in Tel Aviv, killing one Israeli and wounding another.

The soldiers also took measurements of Mona’s home and the home of a detainee, Amir Salama, and dug into the walls and floors of the two homes, in preparation for demolishing them.

It is noteworthy that the army has abducted more than 10,600 citizens from the West Bank, including Jerusalem, since October 7, 2023.

Israel’s home demolition policy is an illegal act of collective punishment that constitutes war crimes and violates various international and human rights treaties, including the Fourth Geneva Convention of 1949 for the Protection of civilian persons in times of war, as well as article 17 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, issued in 1948, and numerous United Nations resolutions.
