A Palestinian man was killed on Tuesday evening after being shot by Israeli forces during their invasion of the town of Ath‑Thaheriya, south of Hebron, in the southern part of the occupied West Bank.
The Palestinian Ministry of Health confirmed that Mohammad Rajeh Nasrallah, 20, from Ath‑Thaheriya, succumbed to critical injuries sustained when Israeli soldiers opened fire during the military incursion.
Medical staff at Dura Governmental Hospital said Nasrallah arrived with a live‑bullet wound to the abdomen, describing his condition as extremely grave before announcing his death shortly afterward.
During the same invasion, another young man was shot with live ammunition and sustained moderate injuries. The soldiers also abducted a young man, Mohammad Aziz Amro, in Doura.
The Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS) reported that its teams treated two live‑fire injuries in Ath‑Thaheriya, noting that one of them was classified as serious.
The killing in Ath‑Thaheriya occurred amid a broader escalation across the Hebron governorate on Tuesday evening, as Israeli forces carried out multiple, simultaneous invasions into several towns and refugee camps.
Local sources reported that Israeli troops invaded the town of Shuyukh and the Al‑Arroub refugee camp, firing dozens of gas bombs and causing numerous cases of suffocation among residents, including children and elderly people.
In the town of Sa’ir, north of Hebron, protests erupted after Israeli forces stormed residential areas. Soldiers fired both live ammunition and gas canisters, leading to additional suffocation injuries among civilians.
The events in Ath‑Thaheriya follow a pattern of intensified Israeli military activity across the Hebron area in recent weeks.
In addition, Israeli soldiers invaded the Al-Fawwar refugee camp, south of Hebron, and abducted a young man, Ismael Fayeq Nassar,
Israeli forces have repeatedly stormed towns, fired live rounds at residents, and used tear gas extensively, resulting in rising casualties and widespread fear among the population.
Human rights groups have warned that the frequency and severity of these incursions reflect a systematic escalation in the southern West Bank, where residents face increasing violations, home invasions, and movement restrictions.
Medical teams in Hebron continue to struggle with the volume of injuries caused by live fire and gas inhalation during these operations. Ambulance crews have repeatedly reported delays due to military roadblocks and the presence of armored vehicles in residential neighborhoods, in addition to attacks against ambulances and medics.
The repeated invasions have disrupted daily life, forced shop closures, and created an atmosphere of constant fear, particularly among young people who are frequently targeted during military operations.
Since the beginning of this month, January 2026, Israeli soldiers have killed five Palestinians, including one child, and injured dozens, in several parts of the occupied West Bank.
