“Combatants for Peace” movement organized a joint protest at the entrance to Jericho, near the Almog junction, to denounce settler terrorism and reaffirm a commitment to non-violence, justice, and human dignity.
Calls for International Intervention
During the march, demonstrators held placards condemning the ongoing violations by both settlers and Israeli occupation forces. Participants issued an urgent plea to the international community to intervene and halt the escalating attacks currently impacting communities across the West Bank.
A Message of Unified Resistance
Sael Jabarin, a member of Combatants for Peace, emphasized the significance of the timing. “On this day, May 8th, we have gathered at the Jericho junction to express our solidarity as part of the annual Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People,” Jabarin stated. He noted that the event saw broad participation from various civil society organizations and institutions.
Jabarin further underscored the binational nature of the protest, saying:
“We came here today—Palestinians and Israelis alike—to raise a single slogan: No to Israeli state terrorism, no to settler terrorism in the West Bank, and no to ethnic cleansing. We are staying here; we will not leave. Our presence today is the ultimate proof of our steadfastness and our resilience on this land.”
Settler Harassment
The peaceful demonstration was met with hostility from local settlers. Witnesses reported that settlers threw juice cans and cups of coffee at the protesters and subjected them to a barrage of verbal abuse and insults throughout the event.
