The State of Kuwait and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia have condemned recent statements by an Israeli minister advocating for the imposition of Israeli sovereignty over the occupied West Bank and the expansion of Israel’s illegal colonies on stolen Palestinian lands.
In a press statement on Wednesday, the Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs described the remarks as a flagrant violation of international law and relevant UN Security Council resolutions.
Kuwait emphasized that these statements are a blatant assault on the Palestinian people’s right to establish their independent state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
The ministry warned that these provocative statements further complicate the regional situation, reinforce the policy of force used by the occupation forces to impose their racist agenda, and obstruct international efforts aimed at achieving peace and stability in the region and the world.
Similarly, the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs warned of the dangers posed by the extremist statements.
The Saudi Foreign Ministry highlighted that these statements undermine peace efforts, including the two-state solution, encourage conflicts, and increase extremism, thereby posing a greater threat to regional security and stability.
The ministry stressed that these statements violate international laws and relevant UN resolutions, reinforcing occupation and expansion by force, which sets a dangerous precedent.
It added that the continued international failure to address this issue threatens the legitimacy and credibility of the international system and its sustainability.
Bezalel Smotrich, in a speech delivered while presiding over a meeting of the “Religious Zionism” party in the Israeli Knesset last Monday, pledged that 2025 would be the year of Israeli sovereignty over the West Bank.
He highlighted that Donald Trump’s election as the next U.S. president provides a strategic opportunity for Israel to push forward with its annexation plan.
These statements have sparked widespread condemnation from the international community.
Josep Borrell, the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, strongly criticized Smotrich’s remarks, asserting that they undermine International Law, infringe upon Palestinian rights, and jeopardize the prospect of a two-state solution.
Palestinian officials have also denounced the plan, declaring that 2025 will be the year of Palestinian statehood instead.
