Israeli forces injured several Palestinians and forcibly evacuated many families from their homes, on Wednesday, during a military incursion into the Balata refugee camp, east of Nablus in the northern occupied West Bank.
Media sources reported that a large army force stormed the Balata refugee camp at dawn, deployed sharpshooters on rooftops, and closed all entrances to the camp.
Sources added that occupation soldiers invaded and ransacked several citizens’ homes, and forcibly evacuated their inhabitants, converting them into military barracks.
On Wednesday afternoon, the Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS) reported that its ambulance crews transported three young men to hospital after they were assaulted by occupation forces.
The head of the Popular Services Committee, Imad Zaki, told the WAFA News Agency that the army forced 14 families, including women and children to evacuate their homes and instructed them not return for 48 hours.
Zaki added that occupation soldiers deployed throughout the refugee camp stormed several homes, and detained many Palestinian young men and subjected them to interrogation.
Also, the army detonated a blacksmith shop owned by a local citizen, causing extensive damage, in addition to blocking civil defense and firefighting crews from reaching the site.
The Palestinian Health Ministry announced on Wednesday night that sixteen Palestinians sustained injuries as a result of the Israeli incursion into the Balata camp; the nature and severity of those injuries were not known at the time of this report.
