On Tuesday, a Palestinian man identified as Muhammad Darduna, 28 years old, from Jabaliya al-Balad, north of Gaza, infiltrated the northern border between Gaza and Israel into the city of Ashdod (formerly the Palestinian city of Isdud). He opened fire on an Israeli police vehicle, killing one Israeli officer and injuring 4 others, according to Hebrew sources.

The officer who was killed was identified as First Sgt. Adir Kadosh.

According to Israeli Channel 14, Darduna opened fire on Route 4, targeting police forces and civilians. Officer Adir Kadush was fatally shot while sitting in a police vehicle. Darduna then continued the shooting spree along the road, injuring four civilians—some moderately, others lightly—with direct gunfire and shrapnel.

Darduna was then killed by an armed Israeli civilian on the road.
