A Palestinian man died, on Thursday, three weeks after he was shot and seriously injured by Israeli forces during an attack against the Tulkarem refugee camp, in the northwestern part of the occupied West Bank.
Media sources said that Awad Tayeh Muhammad Anbar, 47, succumbed to critical gunshot wounds he sustained on the Israeli military assault against the Tulkarem refugee camp on November 14, 2023.
During the incursion, Anbar was shot in the upper body by an Israeli sharpshooter positioned on the rooftop of a building near the refugee camp.
The critically injured man had been receiving medical treatment at a Nablus hospital due to the seriousness of his condition.
On Thursday afternoon, many Palestinians gathered in front of Al-Isra Specialized Hospital in the city of Tulkarem to receive the body.
Participants repeated slogans denouncing the crimes of the occupation against the people of Gaza Strip and the West Bank.
Mourners carried the body of the slain man on their shoulders towards his family home in the Tulkarem camp where loved ones paid their respects.
The funeral prayer was performed at the Al-Salam Mosque in the camp, before his body was laid to rest in the Martyrs’ Cemetery in the eastern neighborhood of the city.
With the death of Anbar, the number of Palestinians killed by Israeli forces in the Tulkarem governorate since the start of the Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip on October 7, 2023 has risen to 45, including 20 from the Tulkarem refugee camp.
Furthermore, 266 Palestinian civilians have been killed by the occupation army in the West Bank since October 7, 2023.
