(RAMALLAH, Sunday, January 2, 2022WAFA) – Israel issued 1595 administrative detention orders against Palestinians in the occupied territories in 2021, including new and renewed orders, today said the Palestinian Prisoners’ Society (PPS).
It said that Israel uses the administrative detention policy that is based on a secret file not accessible to the Palestinian detainees or their lawyers in order to stifle the political activists.
The highest number of administrative detention orders were issued in 2021 were in May and reached 200, said the PPS, explaining that 60 Palestinian detainees have resorted to hunger strikes to gain their freedoms, most of them held in administrative detention and the latest is Hisham Abu Hawwash, 40, from the southern West Bank town of Dura, who has been on hunger strike for 139 days and is considered in a very critical situation.
The PPS also said that the 500 Palestinian administrative detainees in Israel have declared their boycott of the Israeli courts starting today because they feel the courts always side with the military government and orders and do not treat them fairly.
