The United Nations Independent International Commission of Inquiry has confirmed that Israeli occupation forces committed war crimes, crimes against humanity, and genocide in the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023.

Commission member Chris Sidoti stated that the investigation spanned two years and relied on more than 16,000 verified items of evidence.

These included authenticated photos and videos cross-referenced with eyewitness testimonies under strict UN protocols.

The Commission also utilized victim and witness accounts, satellite imagery, and digital forensic tools to document violations with precision.

Sidoti emphasized that the Commission’s mandate goes beyond documentation—it includes identifying accountability.

Investigators were able to trace specific violations to named Israeli military units, and in some cases, to individual commanders and officials in the Israeli government and army who issued direct orders to commit these crimes.

He further noted that on November 21, 2024, the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant on charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity committed against Palestinians in Gaza.

Sidoti clarified that the Commission’s reports are submitted to the UN Human Rights Council and the General Assembly and are publicly available. He denied the existence of any secret or undisclosed reports.

Criticism of the Commission’s work, he added, is largely limited to the Israeli government and the United States, while its findings enjoy broad international support.

These documents mark a critical milestone in international legal efforts, providing a robust foundation for legal accountability and prosecution of violations committed during two years of sustained aggression.

They also spotlight the immense human suffering and catastrophic impact inflicted on Gaza’s civilian population.
