The Palestinian News & Info Agency (WAFA): Ibrahim Ammar Abbas, a 23-year-old Palestinian from Jenin currently under Israeli detention, has suffered partial paralysis while imprisoned at the Negev Detention Camp, and Israeli authorities are reportedly refusing to provide him with medical treatment.
Abbas’s family stated to WAFA that his health condition has significantly deteriorated due to the lack of medical care. They accused the occupation authorities of neglecting his health condition, which has led to worsening paralysis following an incident on the 15th of this month when Abbas swallowed his tongue, resulting in his partial paralysis.
The family has placed full responsibility for his health on the Israeli authorities and noted that despite protests from fellow detainees at the prison—including returning their food trays in protest—there has been no improvement in Abbas’s medical treatment.
They have called upon humanitarian and human rights organizations to intervene and assist in saving his life.
Abbas was detained on April 23, 2023, at a military checkpoint near the town of Salfit in the central West Bank, and has been held under administrative detention without charges or trial.
