Israeli media sources reported on Tuesday that the Israeli police took prisoner several Palestinian residents of the Israeli town of Netanya. The police claimed that they received intelligence information that the arrestees intended to carry out a suicide bombing in Israel.

The Maan News Agency reported that Israeli police and army units closed the coastal road in Netanya, stopped a vehicle driving on the road, and detained the passengers.

Although the vehicle was thoroughly searched, the police stated that no explosive materials or explosive belts were found. The vehicle was pulled over near Yakom area in Netanya.

Israeli security sources reported that the detained civilians were transferred to the Israeli Security Services for interrogation.

The Israeli Police and security personnel claimed that there is a possibility that the passengers threw the explosive belt out of the car before they were pulled over, or “managed to hide it somewhere”.
