Palestinian commissioner at the Arab League, Mohammad Sbeih, stated on Tuesday that the League transferred $52 million to the Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas, and will continue to transfer aid to the Palestinian people through Abbas until the international embargo is lifted.
In an interview with the Maan news Agency, Sbeih stated that the Arab League transferred 52 million US dollars to Abbas, and will continue to transfer funds through Abbas until the international embargo is lifted- and then all aid money will be directly transferred to the Palestinian Ministry of Interior.
Sbeih added that the Palestinian Finance Minister, Salaam Fayyad, informed the Arab League that he will make every effort to lift the siege on his ministry in order to enable it control and supervise all financial issues.
He also stated that the Foreign Ministers of 13 Arab countries arrived in Egypt on Tuesday in order to determine the needed strategies that would advance the Arab peace imitative.
Sbeih stated that the Arab League meeting which will start on Wednesday is set to give the green light to the teams that were designated to hold talks with Israel, the United States, the Quartet committee and civil institutions in various countries in order to promote the Initiative.
