Palestinian medical sources reported on Wednesday evening that a Palestinian man was killed by an electric shock while working inside a siege-busting tunnel on the border with Egypt, in Rafah, in the southern part of the Gaza Strip. The Higher Committee for Medical and Emergency Services in Gaza identified the resident as Mohammad Al Daghma, aged 27.
Approximately 200 Palestinians have died in similar accidents since Israeli imposed the illegal siege on Gaza in 2006.
A large number of Palestinians were killed during an incident when the army bombarded the tunnels whilst they were still inside them.
The siege has left Gaza hospitals and medical centres without the vital and desperately needed medications and supplies.
Over 300 patients have died since the siege began due to a lack of essential medical equipment, and having been denied exit passes by the Israeli government to receive treatment outside of Gaza, such as in Egypt or Israel.
