Palestinian girl dies of wounds sustained three years ago, and Israeli army continues to attack civilians in the West Bank. These stories and more coming up; stay tuned.

The Gaza Update

Palestinian medical sources Thursday announced the death of Palestinian girl Tahrir Abueljidyan, 17, due to wounds she sustained three years ago from Israeli gunfire in the Jabalya refugee camp in northern Gaza.

Abueljidyan was shot and wounded critically in the head during a large-scale Israeli invasion into the northern part of the Gaza Strip in 2004.

The Israeli army shelled the northern part of the Gaza Strip late Wednesday night. Palestinian media sources said that the Israeli tanks, stationed along the Gaza-Israel border, fired several shells into unpopulated areas in Beit Hanoun. No casualties were reported.

Israeli army gunfire killed a Palestinian resistance fighter earlier yesterday and wounded two others. Recently, the Israeli army has reinforced its presence along the Israel-Gaza border, while Israeli security officials have warned of a possible massive attack on the Gaza Strip, under the pretext of cracking down on Palestinian resistance factions.

The West Bank Update

A group of right-wing Israeli settlers from Ramat Ishai settlement, located in the downtown section of the southern West Bank city of Hebron, set a Palestinian civilian car on fire midday Thursday.

Hanna Abu Heikal, the owner of the car, stated that a group of four settler men set her car on fire while parked in front of her house a few meters away from the settlement.

Abu Heikal added that Israeli soldiers stationed at an army post in front of her house did not stop the setters from burning the car. Troops also detained and stopped the Palestinian firefighting brigade from putting out the fire until the car was completely burnt.

Abu Heikal stated that this car was her third destroyed by settlers. She demanded that international human rights organizations act to protect her family, which is attacked on a daily basis by Israeli settlers and the Israeli army.

Israeli settler attacks against Palestinian civilians in Hebron have been dramatically increasing, especially in the old city of Hebron, where four hundred settlers occupy a major area.

The Israeli army invaded several parts of the West Bank on Thursday morning and abducted at least 20 Palestinian civilians.

In the city of Nablus, located in the northern part of the West Bank, a massive Israeli force invaded the downtown section of Nablus and searched scores of residents’ homes, finally abducting seven civilians.

Israeli forces also abducted eight residents Thursday morning during a house-to-house search campaign in Hebron and nearby villages. An Israeli army spokesperson told the Israeli army radio station Thursday that the various West Bank abductions were targeting Hamas and Fatah activists. Palestinian sources reported that all those abducted were civilians.
