The Israeli army released, on Monday at night, a Palestinian fisherman who was taken prisoner a year ago, after the navy ships attacked fishing boats in Gaza territorial waters, and opened fire on them.

The Palestinian Fishermen’s Syndicate said the fisherman, identified as Mohammad Qassem Saidam, was released after a year in captivity.

It added that Saidam was moved to the Eretz terminal with the besieged Gaza Strip, and was released before crossing into the coastal region.

The fisherman was abducted from Palestinian territorial waters in Rafah, in the southern part of the Gaza Strip.

The Israeli navy constantly attacks the Palestinian fishermen in Gaza territorial waters, and repeatedly opens fire on them and their boats, leading to dozens of casualties, including fatalities, in addition to abducting scores of fishermen and confiscating their boats.
