Israeli soldiers demolished, Monday, a Palestinian coffee shop in Battir town, west of Bethlehem, south of occupied Jerusalem in the West Bank.
Taiseer Qattoush, the Mayor of Battir, said several army jeeps and bulldozers invaded the town and demolished a coffee shop owned by Wisam ‘Oweina.
Qattoush added that the army claimed the structure is in Area C of the occupied West Bank, and reportedly located in an archeological area.
He also said that the coffee shop was just a wooden structure with some stone walls, and said that Israel has been trying to keep the Palestinians out of that area, in order to build and expand its illegal colonies, part of the so-called Greater Jerusalem colonialist project.
Qattoush also said that there are serious concerns that Israel is trying to annex all Palestinian lands in that area for its illegal colonialist activities, which would lead to the isolation of the countryside, especially Battir, in Bethlehem governorate.
