The Committee of Prisoners and Former Prisoners Affairs said that Samer Arbid, 44, from Ramallah suffers from signs of extreme torture, to which he was subjected during interrogation in Israeli jails, Quds News Network reported.
The committee said in a statement on Wednesday that Arbid is held now in the clinic of Ramleh jail. He suffers from severe pain in his chest and kidneys. He also lost all his toenails, and has problems in his right ear due to the brutal torture by the Israelis.
The committee noted that the Isreali army had arrested Arbid, on September 25, 2019, after brutally attacking him, and then sent him to Ofer prison.
Arbid was subjected to military interrogation, as he was tortured using “Shabeh” technique. He was also severely beaten in different areas of his body.
After that, Arbid was sent to Maskubiyyeh interrogation center, where “exceptional” torture techniques were used against him, which made him fall into a coma. He was also savagely beaten, suffering from ribs fractures, and subsequently became completely unconscious, and was moved to Hadasah hospital, and diagnosed with kidney failure.
Arbid was critically ill, in the intensive care unit at Hadasah hospital for 45 days, after which he was sent to the clinic of Ramleh jail, where he remains currently.
The committee stressed that what has been going on with Arbid is “a real crime, which has been committed under blatant cover of [the Israeli] law, noting that the Shin Bet received permission from the Israeli supreme court to use exceptional interrogation and torture techniques against Arbid, which violates all international covenants and human rights norms.”
