The Palestinian Foreign Ministry, on Monday, strongly condemned the announcement by Israeli Defense Minister, Naftali Bennett of his intention to build, what he described as “sovereignty road” in the occupied West Bank, Palestinian WAFA News Agency reported.
In a statement, the Foreign Ministry stated that it “condemns in the strongest terms the apartheid practices of the Occupying Power in the Occupied Palestinian Territory.”
The statement said that the proposed road will isolate Palestinian towns in the Jerusalem area as Israel proceeds to build the illegal E1 settlement, which would “close the door once and for all for the establishment of a Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.”
Article 49 of the Fourth Geneva Convention states that the occupying power [Israel] is prohibited from transferring its own population on the land in which it occupies [Palestine].
