The Hebron office of the Palestinian Prisoners Society reported that Israeli soldiers arrested 52 Palestinian residents, in Hebron and its surrounding villages, since the beginning of September 2005.

Amjad Al Najjar, head of the Hebron office of society reported that Israeli soldiers arrested, on Wednesday, five residents in Hebron, Al Arroub refugee camp, and Al Samoua’ village.

 

Al Najjar stated that soldiers also arrested a Palestinian security officer identified as Fadi Salim Al Jawabra, after breaking into his home and searching it.

Al Jawabra is a member of the Palestinian National Security in Bethlehem.

Also, soldiers arrested Shaheed Ismail Khalayla, 17, after breaking into his fathers’ home and forcing the family out for several hours.

In a separate incident, soldiers arrested resident Abdul-Raouf Abu Sharkh, at a military checkpoint which was installed near the Ibrahimi Mosque in Hebron; soldiers claimed that Abu Sharkh was carrying a knife.

Most of the arrests were conducted over the last month during military searches of homes, and invasions carried out by the army in Hebron and several surrounding villages.
