Baha’ Zeitoun, a Palestinian civilian, on Sunday evening, demolished his own home in the Bi’er Ayoub neighborhood in Silwan, under the pretext of the lack of an Israeli permit, the Wadi Hilweh Information Center (Silwanic) reported.
The Zeitoun family said that the Israeli municipality ordered the family to demolish the house, inhabited by 6 people, in Silwan, East Jerusalem, in central occupied West Bank.
According to local sources, Baha’ Zeitoun was forced to dismantle his prefabricated wooden house with his own hands, to avoid paying demolition expenses and fines if the Israeli forces came to remove it, the Palestinian Information Center reported.
The Israeli policy of home demolition violates the Fourth Geneva Convention as well as the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
