Israeli soldiers attacked, Friday, dozens of Palestinians holding the weekly nonviolent procession in the al-Mughayyir village, northeast of the central West Bank city of Ramallah, and injured six Palestinians, in addition to causing many others to suffer the effects of teargas inhalation.

The Palestinians were marching against the Israeli closure of the eastern entrance of the village, in addition to marking Palestinian Land Day.

They marched towards the eastern entrance while chanting against the ongoing closure, the illegal Israeli occupation, and its colonies, in addition to the escalating violations against the Palestinian people.

The soldiers fired many rubber-coated steel bullets at the protesters wounding six, in addition to causing many others to suffer the effects of teargas inhalation.

Amin Abu Alia, the head of the al- Mughayyir Village Council, said this closure is the third this year alone, and added that the blockaded road is essential to the Palestinians, especially since it leads to many areas in the northern and southern parts of the West Bank.

It is worth mentioning that al-Mughayyir witnesses frequent Israeli invasions and violations, in addition to the repeated attacks carried out by the colonialist settlers against the Palestinians and their lands, amidst ongoing attempts to illegal annex more Palestinian lands.

On March 30, 1976, Palestinians inside Israel protested against the Israeli government announcement of the seizure of 21,000 dunams (5,189 acres) of Palestinian land.

The Israeli police violently suppressed the demonstrations, killing 6 young Palestinians, and injuring and arresting many others. Since then, the Palestinians have been marking the incident as “Land Day.”
