The Israeli occupation authorities have announced that they will impose a complete closure on the West Bank and the besieged Gaza Strip, the Jerusalem Post reported.
An army spokesman stated that all checkpoints and border crossings will be closed from Tuesday April 13th until Thursday April 15th at midnight.
The spokesperson added that exceptional medical and humanitarian cases will be assessed by the Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories.
The pretext provided for this heightened blockade is Remembrance Day and the so-called “Independence Day” holidays.
According to B’Tselem, the Israeli Information Center for Human Rights in the Occupied Territories;
Restricting movement is one of the main tools that Israel employs to enforce its regime of occupation over the Palestinian population in the Occupied Territories. Israel restricts the movement of Palestinians within the Occupied Territories, between the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, into Israel, and abroad. Only Palestinians are restricted in this manner, while settlers and other civilians – Israeli and foreign – are free to travel.”
