Mohammad Dahlan, Palestinian Legislative Council member, demanded that the new Hamas led government maintain the Rafah crossing agreement.
The agreement includes nominal Palestinian sovereignty of the crossing with European and Israeli oversight.
"The crossing agreement signed between Palestine and Israel has eased the suffering of Palestinians and opened Gaza to other countries" Dahlan said.
He also stated that the European Union is supporting the development and capacity of Palestinians working at the crossing.
