An Israeli military source, on Monday evening, that soldiers shot and seriously injured a Palestinian man of about 28, after stabbing two people on Tuesday afternoon at the Gush Etzion junction, near the West Bank city of Hebron.Israeli online daily, Haaretz, reported that one of the injured is a 25 year-old foreign laborer who sustained serious wounds after being stabbed in his stomach, and one Israeli 17-year old girl, who suffered light injuries in her buttocks.
Israeli ambulance teams treated the wounded at the scene before evacuating them to Hadassah Ein Karem hospital, in Jerusalem.
The man was hospitalized and doctors later characterized his wounds as moderate, an Israeli source reported.
The assailant is a resident of Hebron, Israeli army source said, he fled the scene after a police officer on leave happened to arrive at the area with his vehicle and spotted incident.
The policeman disembarked from his vehicle and cocked his weapon, leading the attacker to flee the scene. He called out to soldiers in the area and informed them a attacker managed to escape.
Police and army forces in addition to rescue teams were immediately dispatched to the area, and closed it.
