The Israeli army arrested Mostafa Aqel, 30, from Aida refugee camp in the West Bank city of Bethlehem, Friday night, in a military operation that lasted for five hours, local sources reported.
An Israeli army special unit stormed the camp and surrounded Aqel’s house for more than five hours, in an attempt to arrest him.
Troops shot live rounds into the house, and forced neighboring families out and searched their houses.
Also troops inspected the identitiy cards of the residents and interrogated them. Aqel was taken to unknown location, eyewitnesses reported.
Clashes erupted between stone throwing youth and the army during the operation, no additional arrests or injures were reported.
Aqel is a Palestinian Authority national security officer and was imprisoned in Israeli jails for long time and was released only last year.
Army charged Aqel of being a member of Al Aqsa martyrs brigade, the armed wing of Fatah, Israeli source reported.
